The Lawyer's Creed After Covid 19 Passover

BOOK SYNOPSIS

It has always been said that "desperate times call for desperate measures." In a bid to respond to the global public health concerns, between March to May 2020, the Government of Uganda issued several health regulations to deter the spread of COVID-19.

The regulations ushered in a period of lockdown, amongst categorizing legal services as non-essential and rendering Courts virtually closed. The deadly contagion, COVID-19 coupled with the Presidential directives ushered in the new status quo in the legal business environment.

This book discusses the macro-environmental paradigms of COVID-19. It provides the legal perspectives of Uganda’s response to COVID-19. It postulates the challenges and ambiguities of COVID-19 Health legal instruments.

The book demystifies the lawyers’ noble profession and the role of lawyers in pandemics. It provides a plethora and contextualization of the doctrine of essentiality of legal services by detailing the national and international perspectives.

It makes a case for the role of the Attorney General in Uganda as the head of the bar. The book makes objective projections after COVID-19 Passover by using the PESTEL tool. The book also provides the sweet segment, by discussing the lawyers’ creed and resilience, which provides practical solutions on how to grapple with the aftermath of COVID-19.

The book argues that as a result of the ravaging COVID-19, the business world is being transformed before our very eyes creating new rules of our reality with the legal business not being an exception. This is manifested by the effect and implications on legal practice. This means that the demands of legal practice will revert to those needed in times of change though for better or worse.

The new normal will be squarely favouring those who will find a fitting place. This book provides the lawyers’ creed and resilience, as a road map to sail through the COVID-19 storm.
